<p>* If I just forget about breakfast or lunch, the weight will come off quicker.</p>
<p>If you eat less meals each day that could contribute to gaining weight and actually add more body fat. One study actually showed that people who skipped breakfast also had a slower metabolic rate than people who ate every meal. Your metabolic rate and how fast your body burns calories is important to maintaining your body&#8217;s vital functions when you sleep. If you choose to miss meals, your body immediately starts to slow down the rate it&#8217;s burning calories at. It is actually more effective to eat several small mealss each day instead of consuming all the calories in just one or two larger meals. It&#8217;s a good idea to remember  that skipping breakfast, or really any meal, will do</p>
<p>your body harm and hinder your weight loss goals.</p>
<p>2.  You won&#8217;t gain weight from fat-free foods, regardless of the amount you consume. A single gram of fat has nine calories, compared to only four calories in a single carbohydrate or protein gram, making fat the most concentrated source of calories that we consume. However, cutting back on fat in only effective if calories are also cut. You should also realize that fat-free foods are not necessarily low in calories.</p>
<p> Manufacturers often replace the fat they remove from a food with copious amounts of sugar, making that fat-free product higher in calories than the original product. Weight is gained when too many calories are consumed, the origin of the calories does not matter when it comes to weight gain. It&#8217;s great benefit to your health to limit dietary fat, as well as an easy step to cut down excess calories in your diet, but you also need to pay attention to the overall amount of calories you&#8217;re eating throughout the entire day.</p>
<p>3.  If I don&#8217;t lose weight fast and see the results immediately, I&#8217;ll give up on the diet.</p>
<p>The problem with losing weight quickly is that when you lose more than a pound or two in a week, you are often losing muscle. Muscle is like an engine. The larger your body is, the more muscles you need to move it. As you lose muscle, you require fewer calories to keep your body moving. However, you will probably be eating the same amount of calories as you were before you unknowingly lost muscle mass. Here&#8217;s a tip &#8211; a fast loss of weight now will make it tougher for you to keep that weight off in the future. Keep this information in mind the next time you are tempted to either give up on your diet, or to use a fad diet that promises quick results.</p>
<p>* The only thing that will make me feel successful is if I can achieve my weight goal.</p>
<p>Success means a lot more than just a number on some scale. It&#8217;s a lifelong process and you will feel accomplished every time you make a positive change to your lifestyle. Don&#8217;t let the scale control you and your day completely. Instead increase your day-to-day activity and keep thorough records of your eating habits. Your habits, not your scale, are the main factor in whether or not you&#8217;ll be able to lose weight and keep it off for the long term.</p>
<p>5.  If I don&#8217;t feel the pain and work out for hours on end when I exercise, then it&#8217;s not effective.</p>
<p>Experts in the field will tell you that the most important ways to maintain a healthy weight is to try and replace sedentary habits, like watching TV or sitting at the computer, with active habits. While a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity every day helps lower a risk of chronic disease, to seriously manage your weight you should probably aim for gradually working up to at least 60 minutes of some kind of physical activity every day of the week. And you don&#8217;t even have to do that sixty minutes of activity at one time. It can be spread out throughout the day so you can walk before work, take the stairs at lunch and work out some more after dinner. </p>

We all tend to be talking to ourselves most of the time. Also known as Self Talk, it is common to talk to ourselves, silently. This is a tool that is quite strong. When you repeat the same thought in your head over and over, your mind starts to believe that it&#8217;s true. If you believe something strongly enough, the tendency is to act that way. Very often, these things that you are repeating become prophecies that are self-fulfilled. If your self-talk each day is that you have no chance of actually losing weight, you&#8217;ll become convinced you can&#8217;t change yourself. What I&#8217;m saying is that basically you can talk yourself into or out of losing weight. </p>
<p>So what is your self-talk about? There is a quiet voice within your mind that you should listen to. Are you telling yourself good things and making progress? Or is it convincing you it&#8217;s a waste of time and undermining all your efforts? Any negative Self Talk can be turned around by the power of positive thinking.</p>
<p>Here in this article I&#8217;ll list several ways you can change your Self Talk so that it works best for you, and doesn&#8217;t work against you!</p>
<p>There are examples of self-talk that is negative, like:</p>
<p>* I will never do anything except fail. I haven&#8217;t lost any weight this week. My family is overweight so I have no chance at being anything but fat. Joining a gym is necessary for me.</p>
<p>Examples of Positive Self-Talk are:</p>
<p>* I exercised this week and ate healthy, even though the scale doesn&#8217;t reflect that. I can achieve my goals if I continue on my path of making positive changes. My healthy habits will lead to weight loss.</p>
<p>* I know lots of people who are changing their eating habits to get healthier. * I&#8217;m not the only one who&#8217;s choosing to eat healthier, more nutritious foods.</p>
<p>* Fun comes in many forms other than eating. * I know food is just the fuel I need to keep my body healthy.</p>
<p>Having a positive Self Talk is a good way to improve your self-image and tear down mental blocks that are keeping you from your goals. If you want to enhance this skill and become better at it try writing down your Self Talks. Seeing in on paper will allow you more objectivity about yourself and the efforts you&#8217;re making to lose weight. You could even turn it into a diary so that you can record your thoughts and your various accomplishments at the end of the day. Is there things that turned out positive? Stay focused on the positive aspects of your accomplishment, not the negative, and plan how you will make the next day even better. You should congratulate yourself when you achieve something, no matter how insignificant it appears to others. Remind yourself that when you believe it&#8217;s possible, controlling your weight will be so much easier. It&#8217;s natural to have doubts but these can really get in your way. You can build positive belief through positive thinking and you will doubt yourself less often. By believing in yourself, your goals are within reach.</p>
